Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 1, 2026.
Information we collect
We collect account information you provide, such as your email address and username, profile fields and settings you choose, and activity and content you submit through the service.
This may include comments, votes, saved study content, profile preferences, private messages, message or profile reports, block lists, moderation-related metadata, device or request information, and records related to account safety and abuse prevention.
How we use information
We use information to operate and secure the service, provide account and messaging features, display your profile according to your settings, enforce platform rules, investigate abuse, improve product quality, and support legal compliance.
We may also use information to review reports, detect spam or misuse, apply rate limits, maintain backups and internal records, and protect users and Project Scriptura from fraud, harassment, and other harmful activity.
User content and license
As described in the Terms of Service, you retain ownership of content you post, but you grant Project Scriptura and its operators a broad license to use your content for lawful platform, safety, editorial, and business purposes.
Public community content, including verse comments and other public submissions, may be curated, edited, excerpted, combined, published, and commercially used in future content collections, devotionals, study guides, commentary products, and similar works, as further described in the Terms of Service.
Public profile visibility
Your username and posted content may be visible to others. Profile settings control whether your comments and upvotes appear on your public profile.
Private messaging and safety review
If you use private messaging, we store and process messages to provide that feature. We may also access, review, preserve, and use message content and related records when reasonably necessary for moderation, abuse investigation, safety, technical support, security, or legal compliance.
Message recipients may also retain, copy, report, or share messages they receive. We cannot guarantee that private messages will remain confidential, secure, or permanently available.
Moderation and account action
We may monitor, review, remove, restrict, or disable content or accounts with or without notice for policy, safety, integrity, or legal reasons, as further described in the Terms of Service.
Data retention
We may retain account and content data as needed for operations, safety, moderation, legal compliance, abuse prevention, business records, and enforcement of our policies and legal rights. Deleted content may remain in backups, derived works, and internal records for a limited period or longer where legally permitted or operationally necessary.
Policy updates
We may update this Privacy Policy and related Terms. Continued use of Project Scriptura after updates take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
